It's natural to have questions when considering therapy or an assessment. Below, you'll find helpful information about the services offered, appointments, fees and what to expect along the way.
You can complete the contact form on this website, use the WhatsApp button or call 067 473 1782 to enquire about appointments and availability.
Yes. Sessions are available in person or online, depending on the type of service and individual circumstances.
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.
Please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Same-day cancellations may be charged in full.
I understand that illness and emergencies happen, and these circumstances will be considered individually.
I offer individual therapy to teenagers aged 16 and older, and to adults.
For clients under 18, a parent or legal guardian completes the intake and consent forms, and I meet with the parent or guardian before the teenager's first therapy session.
Adults complete their own forms and meet with me for their first session.
Therapy provides a warm, collaborative and non-judgemental space to explore experiences, challenges and personal strengths.
The process is guided by your individual needs and therapeutic goals, with a focus on self-understanding, emotional regulation, personal growth and resilience.
A psychoeducational assessment may be helpful if your child is finding learning, attention or school life more difficult than expected, or if their progress does not seem to reflect their abilities.
You may have noticed ongoing difficulties with reading, writing, maths, organisation or confidence, or perhaps a teacher has raised concerns.
You do not need to know exactly what the difficulty is before getting in touch. An assessment helps me understand your child's strengths, the factors affecting their learning and what support may help.
If you are unsure whether a full assessment is needed, I can discuss your concerns with you before you book.
An assessment begins with an intake interview with the parent or legal guardian, followed by two assessment sessions.
I also gather information from the child's teacher and, when appropriate, arrange a classroom observation.
Afterwards, I prepare a written report and meet with the parent or guardian for a feedback session.
Assessments usually take place over two sessions, each lasting approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. We will talk through what to expect and discuss the process in more detail during our initial intake session.
The written report generally takes three to four weeks to complete.
Subject choice assessments support learners in making informed decisions about their Grade 10 subjects, taking into account aptitude, interests, personality and learning preferences.
Career assessments offer broader exploration of an individual's strengths, interests, preferences and possible future study or career pathways.
I am registered with most medical schemes, so you may be able to claim reimbursement for your sessions, depending on your benefits.
The practice operates on a cash basis: you pay the practice directly and submit any claim to your medical scheme yourself.
Please check your available cover with your scheme before booking. You remain responsible for the fee if a claim is declined or only partly reimbursed.
Please get in touch to confirm whether I am registered with your scheme. Fees are charged at Discovery Health rates.
Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs) are healthcare benefits that medical schemes must provide for certain conditions, including some mental health conditions.
If your condition qualifies, PMB funding may cover therapy separately from your day-to-day benefits. The number of sessions and how they are funded depend on the condition, your treatment plan and your medical scheme's requirements.
If you already have approved PMB cover, I can discuss whether it applies to your therapy sessions.
If you do not have approved PMB cover, I can assess whether an application would be appropriate. I can discuss this with you during your first session.
Your medical scheme makes the final decision about approval and funding.
More information about PMBs is available on the Discovery Health website .
